A Brief Biography:
Peter Petraglia became interested in art as a young child in New York City. He has been following "the Art Muse" ever since. After graduating from the Philadelphia. Museum School of Art (now the University Of the Arts), he continued to make paintings, drawings and art photographs while pursuing a career in advertising and illustration. Selling his partnership in a well established Princeton NJ ad agency has allowed him to concentrate on painting for the last 20 years.
Listed in Who's Who in American Art, he has had many one-person shows, participated in numerous group shows and been accepted in prestigious juried art shows. He has won a number of awards for his paintings, photographs and design work. His paintings are in private collections throughout the United States.
His style of painting is a crystallization of many images and ideas. Images retained from a childhood spent in city and rural surroundings. Images gathered while in the army in Japan. Images that happen almost magically after listening to some special piece of music and while traveling in other countries. Design has always been a very important element in his work. To achieve an emotional response through strong design, color, line and form with a personal point of view is his ultimate goal. There are always surprises to build on and taking advantage of them keeps his work looking fresh.
